  • Check the rim for damage. A small tube with a cracked rim will not clamp evenly; set it aside for hot-wire cutting or manual handling.
  • Keep the blade sharp. A dull diamond blade pushes harder on thin glass and causes chipping, which is more noticeable on small tubes.
  • Run dust collection. Even clean mechanical cuts produce glass dust, and the funnel glass contains lead, so keep the dust collector running and clean the cutting station regularly.
